Fence Project - August 8-10, 2008 : Took down about 250' of metal posts and barbed wire fence along the road side of our property. Replaced with 2-rail split rail fence. Lots of work for both of us but looks nice and should weather well over the years. Next springs we'll put up 8-10' blue spruce and white fir every 25' or so along the fence.

Under The Cabin - Needs Work - September 1, 2008 : Spent some time underneath in order to check prior to winter. Found some old shingles (we have a metal roof, not sure why these are here) and a bunch of old crap. Going to insulate all of the hot water baseboard copper this weekend and add more heat tape to the water lines.

The Beckwith Ranch - August 22, 2008 : We drive by this historic ranch every time we visit our cabin but have never stopped in. On our way up to the cabin this weekend we DID stop. The light was wonderful and the pictures came out great. This is a historic property that is (slowly) being restored via a non-profit (http://www.beckwithranch.org/home.asp).

October 25-26 2008 - Satellite and TV Upgrades : DirecTV finally got around to offering HD local channels for Colorado Springs. This means we can now get HD signals on our DirecTV at the cabin. This entailed upgrading the standard dish antenna and DirecTV DVR receiver to HD models. While doing this I decided to just go ahead and upgrade the TV to a 50" Panasonic Plasma on deep sale at the local Circuit City. Now we can watch football and other shows in HD! Yes. There's a new Panasonic BluRay DVD player in there as well. Long winter ahead.
