Badito Cone - Saturday, August 15, 2009

A nice hike up to an old volcanic plug. Called the Badito Cone. Only 8945' and we started just around 7000' to climb. Not quite 5 hours to do the whole thing today with my friend Steve. No trail today up or done which means a lot of bushwacking.

Vervaeke > Take Huerfano CR620 off of Colorado 69 just south of Farista, CO

Vervaeke > Turn right (south) onto FS 438 and go about a mile and park on the side of the rugged road.

Vervaeke > This is the view from the north. Not quite where we would start at the TH.

Vervaeke > View from the SW of the peak. We would climb from the other (North) side.

Vervaeke > Forest Ranger said some folks climb from the long ridge on the left all the way to the summit. Highway 69 is just to the left of this pic.
